Getting Into HR Without Experience or Education

You want to get into HR but you have no experience perhaps no education and every job that you see requires some sort of certification education and especially experience so how do you get your foot in the door for HR so let’s discuss.

#1 Start Wiith Your Network

The people who you are already working with within the organization, your friends, and family as well. Ask yourself if you know anyone within the organization who needs help with some HR related tasks. My reasoning behind is most people in this profession arrived by accident. A lot of people started out in different levels of the organization and created an opportunity for themselves. Or they had a manager or someone else in the organization who saw they had a strong ability to connect with the employees. Sometimes it can be a member of the C-Suite who see’s the need to hire you for the HR department. This is why networking is critical.

#2 Dive Into Your Local Community

This includes your local community, non profit organizations as well as your local HR associations. You want to be very clear about your interests and goals because you will have the opportunity to interact with decision makers at these events. Let them know how you would like to launch your career in the HR profession as frequently as possible.

#3 Getting More Education

It’s always good to get additional education, so you can consider signing up for certificates and any other continuing education courses offered through your local community college, state college or university. The programs are designed for you to earn a certificate so then you can demonstrate that you’re willing to learn and you’re willing to invest in your career. Their career departments can connect you with an organization who is seeking your credentials.
